Space Forge will launch ForgeStar-1, its in-orbit manufacturing demonstration satellite equipped with Silicon Sensing’s CAS291 accelerometer. This follows a program of testing and development in satellite vehicles. ForgeStar satellites will help produce advanced materials such as alloys, proteins, and semiconductors in ultra-vacuum and microgravity space conditions.

Symbotic builds hardware and software for flexible warehouse automation. Source: Symbotic Symbotic Inc. yesterday announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2024, which ended March 30. The company reported $424 million in revenue and suffered a net loss of $41 million. Wilmington, Mass.-based Symbotic also said it had an adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) of $22 million for the quarter.

Its new P3020 cobot, part of the line, is the company’s longest-reaching cobot to date. The P3020 collaborative robot ( cobot ) has a payload of up to 30 kg (60 lbs) and a reach of 2,030 mm (80 in).

The company this week introduced the IRB 7710 and IRB 7720 that offer 16 new variants and are designed for a variety of applications. However, ABB said it expects the majority of installations of the new robots to be in automotive OEM and Tier supplier sectors, as well as a significant level of installation in logistics, foundry, machinery manufacturing, construction and agriculture applications.

Pet Valu Holdings Ltd. reported a first-quarter profit of $17.5 million, down from $18.7 million a year earlier, as its revenue rose four per cent. The pet food retailer says its profit amounted to 24 cents per diluted share for the quarter ended March 30 compared with a profit of 26 cents per diluted share in the same quarter last year. Revenue for the quarter totalled $260.8 million, up from $250.3 million a year earlier.
